This is the parent page for defining the properties of planets in Indian astrology. Planets are the main actors in this arena of human life. While the houses are the domains of activity, no activity would be possible without the planets. As I have explained in another of my post “The story of your life”, the entire trick in astrology is:
The rest of the pages in this section of astrology are not meant to be blog posts. These pages will be live and I will keep editing them. Each of the pages will be updated regularly. This particular post talks about the basic nature of the planets, their properties and qualities. This information is basically from BPHS and further modified with learning from Dr. Raman’s books, Phala Deepika and other books.
Each of the planets has its own type, which is malefic or benefic. Waxing moon is benefic and Mercury is mutable. The elements are Fiery, Earthy and Airy. They have specific colours and are associated with a gem – as explained in the posts within Gemstones category. They rule over specific directions. I have also added basic factors represented by these planets. This is by no way meant to be an exhaustive list, but is very high level list.
As of Makar Sankranti day Jan 14th, 2014, I have added pages for Sun, Moon, Mars & Mercury. Jupiter is also added. Please check the hyperlinks for the details.
