The Astrology of the Seers really is comprehensive and as the name suggests, proves to be a wonderful guide on Vedic Astrology.
I have a confession to make, I did not buy this book, but borrowed it from my uncle and liked it so much that I never returned it back. The book was not available from any of the Indian and foreign book stores at the time. From the day I have started reading it, it refuses to go back to the backside of my book shelf, even though I keep buying new books on this subject.
The books covers all the basics of Indian Astrology – house, signs, planets, aspects and yogas as seen from a horoscope. The chapter on the cycles of world ages, although more to do with Hinduism and its teachings and less to do with astrology, is indeed enlightening and it is heartening to see how Dr. Frawley presents the argument that we live in Dwapar Yuga where as our other gurus and rishis tell us that the current time is of the more depressing Kaliyuga.
The author encourages the reader to think in terms of astrology, within ourselves, our way of life and surroundings and thereby deduce what planets could be affecting us. As an example, Saturn rules cold and dark places and if we come across such places, we should understand Saturn’s influence there.
The book then goes on to cover more advanced topics of Ayurveda, psychological indicators of planets, their chakras etc. The chapter on balancing the influence of planets is an important one because it describes all the treatment methods to strengthen of placate the planet, which he calls “balancing the energy of the planets” . It describes use of gemstones, clothes that should be worn, mantras and in general changes in lifestyle that should be brought to achieve the desired results.

I just wanted to let you understand that. Dr. Frawley is not the one who argued that we are in Dwapara yuga. I was sri Swami Yuketswar, a great sage of India and was was great authority on Astronomy and astrologny, who in his book called Kaivalya darsanam ( english translation “The holy science”). If you are interested to know more about him you can read ” Autobiography of a Yogi” by another great sage Paramahamsa Yogananda. These books are available in book stores. If not you by on line. There was lot of research by the weterners based on this writing. you can find them on internet too.
It is sad that we don’t understand and recognize out own great sages until some Westerner tells us.
You said somewhere in the site that our ancient saints didn’t know the existence of Pluto, Uranus etc., Do you really think so? Not only Vedic but also Western, Greek and Mayan astrologies have not taken them into account. Western Astrology adopted them after they have been discovered. The reason might be that influence of these plants on earth and on the minds of the living beings could be negligible. Vedic scholars and sages know very well about the universe lot better, leave alone these petty planets. After all, there are still arguments and questions the status of these celestial objects as planets.
It is obvious we are in Kaliyug. So many references are given in Bhagavata Purana, in the First canto itself. It is delusional to think we are in dwapar yug. It got over with the end of Krishna Avatar. In fact there is a chapter in Bhagavat purana as to how maharaj Parikshit recieved the age of Kali.
